Balanced Scorecard
The Balanced Scorecard was first developed in the late 1980s to provide a richer set of management performance indicators covering areas such as customers, operations, finance, employees and innovation. The concept was designed to create a balanced set of objectives and measures that could be cascaded down from the top to the bottom of a company.
Balanced scorecard
Resultaten 1. Verantwoording door de gehele organisatie 2. Resultaat gedreven cultuur 3. Drijft de waarde van het bedrijf omhoog 4. Afstemming tussen persoonlijk, afdeling, onderdeel en bedrijfsdoel

Blocking
An experiment is designed to evenly distribute the runs among the blocks identified. Blocking may mean completing half of the experiment now and the other half after time has passed; or half for shift one and half for shift 2; or dividing the experiment between four different offices, locations, or plants. The number of runs is unchanged. Blocking is a technique to reduce the effect of noise on the experiment when the noise variable is known or suspected.
Blocking Variable
A known variable that can have an effect on the response variable. It is sometimes called a background or noise variable. Used to ensure that background variables do not contaminate the evaluation of primary variables. The effect of a blocking variable on the experiment can be measured and reduced by blocking the design. Blocking variables are not variables of interest.
Box plot
A graphical technique for plotting data where the center line of the box is the median, the ends of the box are 25% of the data points on either side of the median and the lines represent 1.5 times the ends of the box.

BPR - Business Process Re-engineering
BPR is a process consulting technique for analyzing and improving business processes within a business. It had its origins in the late 80s and early 90s when consultants spotted the opportunity to improve cross functional process efficiency and effectiveness in large companies. The opportunities for BPR came from the existence of overly rigid functional, organisational and geographic structures in large companies. BPR set out to map "As-Is" processes and then to develop "To Be" processes for companies. BPR enjoyed some successes but successful implementation was patchy across companies and industries. Many companies found it difficult to really address cross functional issues.
